the voice actor isaac hayes who voiced chef was a scientologist. After the episode in series 9, trapped in the closet, Hayes basically sided with the scientologists who were offended and left the show after the end of series 9. So, at the start of series 10, Trey Parker had used voice clips of chef from old episodes to create and episode in which the character is killed off.

Chef was a good south park character but they stopped showing him after 1st episode of season 10.

I heard the guy that played chef on south park stopped doing it because of the church thing...but now the one that plays chef is probably dead now....I heard bout this shit but don't exactly know if it's true?
