About the "right" percentage…
The most frequent questions we receive are about the so-called "Right Percentages".
We would like to allay your fears and provide information to those who are interested in this matter.
Your right percentage is calculated by a simple formula.
Take the total number of pictures you have done, then calculate the number of times you have been in the majority.
This is done twice, once immediately after you vote, it will factor it in as a temporary number.
Then once the picture has received the total number of votes necessary to qualify it, or reject it, for the site,
the system then goes back and recalculates, as you could have been in either the majority or the minority when you first voted,
but that was before the final outcome on the picture.
In a perfect world, there would be no bad moderators. You would only be "wrong" if you approved a bad picture.
We know this is not always the case. It a vicious circle of events, we bring in new moderators, some of whom are out to
subvert the system, and will approve photos clearly out of guidelines.
We send them e-mails when we catch them, deduct points, but they manage to be sneaky about it.
This causes the good mods frustration, so by the time we have identified the people out to ruin the system as opposed
to the people that just made an honest mistake, the good mods quit out of frustration, so we have to approve new moderators.....
So we know that the accuracy percentage doesn't always work the way it should.
We have had to remove moderators with 98% accuracy. Seems all they would do is follow the guidelines exactly,
until it came to nude pictures. Their numbers were higher than their peers. They had done over a 1000 pictures,
so that meant they could be wrong 10 times and only lose 00.1% of their accuracy.
On the plus side, those of you who do take moderating seriously, can use this to your advantage.
You can know that yes there are bad moderators out there, and yes they can effect you, by making you wrong when you should be right.
Though as your numbers grow, they effect you less and less, and as new ones come in, you can inflict way more damage to them,
then they can to you as they haven't done as many pictures.
Don't take it too personally if you get an e-mail ("Ticket") about a picture or essay!
We can only see how you vote, not that your cat jumped on the mouse, you meant to hit reject, but you just mis-clicked,
or you didn't see the e-mail address hidden at the bottom.
Does that mean it is not a useful tool? No, the accuracy percentage still does provide us with some gauge of how
the moderators perform. It is not perfect ....yet, but if we all work together, we can make it the way it is supposed to be.
